POTTERY
The art of modeling clay, remains among us as one of the most popular artistic expressions and is widely spread in our country. It is part of our cultural identity.

TILES
The way tiles decorated floors and walls pleased our kings and therefore they began to be produced in Portugal in the late fifteenth century. They played an important role in Portuguese architecture over the centuries. In the eighteenth century tiles "invaded" churches and convents, palaces and houses, gardens, fountains and stairways.

CORK
The cork oak is the primary source of most cork products in the world, including wine bottle stoppers. Portugal is a major cork-grower; produces about half the world output of commercial cork
PUPPETS
A puppet is an inanimate object or representational figure animated or manipulated by a person. The hand is in a a kind of glove; the index finger will support the head of the doll, the thumb and ring support and move the arms.
SARRONCA
The Sarronca is a membranophone. It has a reservoir, usually a pitcher, serving as a resonance-box. The upper side is covered with a taut skin that vibrates when you rub a small stick, producing a low sound.
ARRAIOLOS
Due to the beauty of their designs and colours, Arraiolos rugs have since long occupied a privileged place among the pieces of Portuguese Handicraft. Arraiolos rugs are hand-embroidered on jute canvas with pure wool in a large variety of colors. Their origin dates back to the end of the 16th century and the beginning of the 17th century.
“ART GALLERY –
The ones about to be forgotten”
Mudam-se os tempos, mudam-se as vontades,
muda-se o ser, muda-se a confiança;
todo o mundo é composto de mudança,
tomando sempre novas qualidades.
Continuamente vemos novidades,
Diferentes em tudo da esperança;
Do mal ficam as mágoas na lembrança,
E do bem – se algum houve –, as saudades.
Luís de Camões (Portuguese poet)
